Cancellation Policy 

Your appointment has been reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel, please call my office (619-313-3071) before 4:00 PM on the day prior to your scheduled appointment and leave a voice message on my confidential line, otherwise you are subject to a $50 no-show fee. I understand some situations are unavoidable, so this policy excludes unexpected emergencies. I appreciate your understanding, thank you.

Client's Rights to Privacy and Confidentiality

The terms "confidentiality" and "privacy" are used interchangeably, however, they mean different things from a legal standpoint. In the context of therapy, confidentiality refers to personal information that the client shares with his or her therapist, and generally the information CANNOT be diclosed to third parties without the express consent of the client.

 

Privacy refers to the freedom from invasion into someone's personal matters, and personal information.

 

Confidentiality is an ethical duty, Privacy is a right rooted in common law. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. I respect and value your right to confidentiality and privacy.

Exceptions include:

Suspected child abuse, dependent adult, or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately. If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim. If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to mental health therapist by law, in order to ensure the client's safety.

If at anytime you are experiencing a medical emergency or do not feel safe alone, please call 911 immediately or visit your nearest emergency room for assistance. You are worth more than you may know.
